Technology: Friend or Foe?
“Unplug the
headphones.”
“Look me in
the eye.”
On, and on,
and on Mother drones;
And then she
gets angry and loudly cries,
“You haven’t
heard a single word I’ve said…
Put
everything away! You’re going to bed!”
Mom is on
the war-path.
One can
really see her wrath.
She says
it’s time for me to take a bath.
I believe
she hates technology;
She won’t
let me finish playing “Super Mario 3”.
Sometimes my
mom is kind of smart,
But not when
it comes to computers and such;
‘Cause there’re
times when she can’t even get the TV to start
even when
all it takes is a simple touch.
The battle
waged between tablet and phone.
First one
would groan then the other would moan.
The fight
went on between the brothers,
Until one
finally said to the other,
“Even that
information is known by Mother.”
Mom heard
their comment and took it to heart.
She decided
that while we were in school
Was the best
time to start
learning to use
the computer as a tool.
Mom learned
to build her family tree,
And how to send
pictures electronically.
She can be
found on Facebook chatting with friends,
And emails
to Germany she knows how to send.
Sometimes we
have to wait our turn,
Because Mom
says she has a CD to burn.?
Why did we
doubt that Mom could learn?
Now we find
the table has turned.
When we give
her a paper she needs to sign;
She looks up
from the computer and asks what we need to buy.
Using
technology has left Mom in a fog;
especially
now since she has learned how to blog.
